Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Calm has retained at Kasumbalesa Boarder Post on the Copperbelt where SADC truck drivers have been protesting entering into the Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC-since Sunday due to security reasons. (Read More Here).




Both Sadc Truck Driver’s Association President Eugene Ndlovu and Chililabombwe District Commissioner Precious Njekwa have confirmed that the situation at Kasumbalesa border is back to normal and that traffic is flowing normally.


Mr. Ndlovu says that following a fruitful meeting between Zambian government officials and officials from the DRC on the need to tighten border security and defuse tension at Kasumbalesa border that country agreed to put in place measures to make the corridor safe for drivers.


He says the Congolese government has committed to providing three patrol vehicles along the Kasumbalesa and Kolwezi corridor where truck drivers face challenges and to provide drivers with an emergency contact number.


Meanwhile, Chililabombwe District Commissioner Precious Njekwa has assured truck drivers that are still hesitant to move into the DRC that the authorities in that country have put in place measures to ensure their safety.
