Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Two people were killed and six others were injured in a stabbing attack along the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday morning, and police said a suspect has been taken into custody. (Read More Here).
Three of the victims were in critical condition, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Captain Dori Koren said in a press conference Thursday afternoon. The other victims “appeared to be stable,” Koren said.
Police recovered a “large kitchen knife” from the scene, Koren said.
The stabbings began around 11:40 a.m. local time, and the suspect was taken into custody “quickly,” Koren said.
The suspect was not immediately identified and a motive was not immediately provided.
Police said that at around 1:50 p.m. local time, the scene had been secured and that they would be providing more information later in the afternoon. A portion of Las Vegas Boulevard remained closed so that police could continue collecting evidence, Koren said.
The incident occurred shortly before noon local time in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, according to police, which includes the Wynn and Encore hotels as well as the Fashion Show Las Vegas shopping mall.
“There are road closures in the area. Citizens are advised to avoid the area,” the agency wrote on Twitter.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and the extent of the victims’ injuries is unknown. Horrific videos and pictures shows what appears to be one of the showgirls in a pool of blood outside the resort on Thursday morning.
Cops swooped on the Venetian resort and the crazed knifeman was arrested with blood coated all over his sleeves.
Medics were seen desperately working on her in front of horrified onlookers while other images showed a woman being whisked away on a stretcher.
At least one of the victims was transported to University Medical Center, where loved ones were seen going in in tears.
Another witness said: ‘A man just started stabbing and slashing.’ Maxime Wallace, a tourist from Montreal, said ‘everything happened so fast it was hard to see.’
Pierre Fandrich told 13 Action News he thought he heard showgirls laughing, but they were in fact screaming. When he saw the blood he assumed one of them had fallen from a nearby bridge.
There were ten officers outside of Wynn casino, potentially looking for some kind of weapon.
The incident allegedly occurred between Wynn and the Resorts World Casino, two major tourist attractions in the city.
Multiple casinos in the area reportedly shut down their entrances in the wake of the attack. At least some of those targeted in the attack were showgirls. Showgirl are often positioned on the Las Vegas strip and pose for photographs with tourists.
Las Vegas police said: ‘At approximately 11:42 a.m., the LVMPD received a report of a stabbing with multiple victims in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.
