Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that TMZ finally shares shocking clip showing moment Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole in his face to the floor during fight at team practice. (Read More Here).
Sources said Poole has been a pro since training camp began and is aware of ongoing discussions between the Warriors and his camp concerning an extension.
Sources told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes that Warriors teammates noticed a change in Poole’s behavior throughout camp. Green and Poole have a history, but Golden State players did not think the altercation was warranted, sources told Haynes.
Green mentioned on media day he would have to play the season out without an extension, as the Warriors face salary cap implications with his contract, Poole and Andrew Wiggins being on the last year of a max deal. Green has a player option on his deal after the 2022-23 season.
If Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro’s recent four-year, $130 million contract extension is a comp for Poole, he would make more on his rookie extension than the $27.5 million Green would make next season.
Shocking video shows Draymond Green violently attacking Jordan Poole, viciously punching him to the ground right in the middle of a team practice … video obtained by TMZ Sports.
Green and Poole clearly have beef … you see them trash-talking each other, and then it turns physical. Green walks up to Poole and gets in his face. Poole pushes Green away with 2 hands to the chest. Green, who is 6’6″ and 230 lbs, responds with a vicious right cross to the face … so ferocious, it knocks Poole to the ground and it may have knocked him out cold.
Green then stands over Poole as teammates and coaches rush in to pull him away. It seems Poole was OK, because he continued practice, putting up shots on the court.
Warriors GM Bob Myers seemed to minimize the incident later, saying, “These things happen. Nobody likes it. We don’t condone it, but it happens.” He goes on to say, “Draymond apologized to the team. Jordan was there in the room … as far as any suspension, punishment, fine, we will handle that internally.”
The two players had been verbally sparring prior to some pushing, which escalated when Green took a swing and made contact with Poole, sources said. Team officials are reviewing the episode.
Poole wasn’t hurt by the punch and completed his workout before leaving the practice floor on Wednesday, sources said.
Green has a history of challenging teammates, past and present, in practice and game settings. It is possible there could be some punishment meted out to Green for escalating the practice encounter Wednesday.
The Athletic was first to report the incident.
