The fire also surrounded a hotel. It was learned that the hotel engulfed in flames was the Practice Hotel of Marmaris Tourism Vocational School.
Marmaris Mayor Mehmet Oktay stated that the people in the hotel were evacuated and said, “No one is stranded. The fire has also spread to a villa. Evacuations were also carried out in the nearby villas,” he said.
Last year, on July 29, a huge forest fire broke out in Marmaris that lasted for days. It was noteworthy that a fire broke out again in the district on the anniversary of the Marmaris fire.
Regarding the possibility of sabotage, Oktay said, “We had a fire hazard yesterday, a few hectares of land were burned. When we look at the situation here, our first impression is that the fire may have started from the transformer,” he said.
