Maggie Hamoonga: Luano coffin drama ends with burial of 54-year-old woman

After almost four days of drama surrounding the death of a 54-year-old woman of Luano district whose coffin was reported to have directed pallbearers to houses of people alleged to be responsible for her death, she was put to rest on Friday when one man confessed to having a hand in her demise. 

The deceased, Maggie Hamoonga, of Mukankamano community in Chief Chikupili’s area, died last Saturday at Luano Mini Hospital around 07:00 hours after an illness.

Central Province acting commissioner Dennis Moola and Luano District Commissioner Kells Melek said Mrs Hamoonga was supposed to be buried on Tuesday between 10:00 hours and 11:00 hours. 

As six men carried her white coffin with some black decorations, the deceased started controlling them leaving mourners puzzled. 

The coffin, which was dragging the helpless pallbearers led them to the house of Hebert Milumbe, who fled to seek police protection.
