Police in Nairobi have launched a manhunt for a 45-year-old woman accused of stealing a sum of Ksh.4 million from the home of her employer, Treasury Chief Administrative Secretary Nelson Gachuihe. (Read More Here).
In the incident reported by CAS Gachuihe at the Lang’ata Police Station on Wednesday, Miriam Muinde is said to have picked the cash from his wardrobe and assorted jewellery worth Ksh.500,000.
Her phone signal was traced to Rongai before it went off radar at 10pm on Wednesday.
The robbery incident is said to have happened at their house located on Lamwia Road in Karen.
“She left for work at around 7am together with her children, leaving behind her maid a female aged 45 years in the house,” the report reads in part.
She returned from work at around 3pm only to find Ms Muinde missing.
Ms Waithira decided to check and ransack the house only to realise her jewelry worth Sh500,000 and Sh4 million cash was missing.
“The maid who is highly suspected to have stolen the items was last captured by Safaricom mobile signal at Rongai in Kajiado County where it was switched off at 10am.
The scene was visited by officers attached to the Kenya Police Service and sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The officers established that there was no sign of break in at the scene of crime.
Currently, the matter is being investigated by detectives attached to Karen police station.
This comes barely a month after another maid was arraigned in court for stealing Sh104 million from her boss.
Ms Shelmith Kiprono is accused of stealing the money from her employer who resides in Lang’ata a Sub County, Nairobi County.
The house help also known as Ms Jerop was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts on Monday, May 30.
She denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh.300,000 pending mention of the case on June 27, 2022.
On May 30, Shelmith Kiprono was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts facing charges of stealing a sum of Ksh.104 million from her employer in Lang’ata.
Shelmith was accused jointly with three other people is said to have stolen about Ksh.99 million in cash and jewellery worth Ksh.4 million as well copies of a log book and title deeds valued at Ksh.104 million.
Police recovered Ksh.2.5 million from her. The four co-accused persons had each been granted Ksh.7 million bond bond which was later reviewed to Ksh.1 million.
