Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Hausa-Fulani Okada riders have destroyed goods and properties of Igbos at Dei Dei Market, Abuja.
According to information, it was reported that the goods and properties destroyed by the Hausas are worth over N2billion. ‘The Hausa destroyed our goods at our warehouse worth over N2b and more,’ a source tells Kossyderrickent.
When contacted, Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the Police in the Federal Capital Territory said the police did not have any update regarding unrest at the Dei Dei market.
“Right now we are there and we are trying to calm the situation down,” Adeh said.
When asked about the current situation at the market as well as the number of casualties (if any,) the Police spokesperson said she could not provide “any reasonable feedback on this now until we calm the situation and we would get back to you,” adding that the FCT Police has deployed its operatives “on [the] ground” and is trying to handle the situation.
According to an eyewitness, “bike man riding recklessly had an accident and as the lady passenger fell, an incoming vehicle crushed her to death, and so mob now killed the okada guy and Hausa guys now start to burn shops in dei dei market and smash cars.”
“Where were the Nigerian Soldiers, Police, DSS, NSCDC for Over 3 Hours When Hausa-Fulani Miscreants Were Setting Multi-Billion Naira Igbo Traders’ Shops and Cars Ablaze in Dei Dei Market Abuja???” – Victim cries out.
Information reads: “- Several people reportedly d*ad, others injured as Armed Hausa-Fulani “Okada Riders” Attacked Businesses & Properties At Dei Dei International Market, Abuja.”
