Nigerian legendary singer, Olanrewaju Ganiu Fasasi, popularly known as, Sound Sultan, has been laid to rest this evening at a cemetery in New Jersey. He was 44 years.
He was buried according to Islamic rites. Incase you don’t know, Sound Sultan was a Muslim. Recall that this morning, his family broke the news that Sound Sultan had passed away due to throat cancer (angioimmunoblastic T-Cell lymphoma).
His burial ceremony was attended by popular singer, Olamide and a few friends and family members. In the video, his wife was seen crying as she laid her head on his casket.
The statement from his family reads:
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi, A.K.A,Sound Sultan. He passed away at the age of 44, following a hard fought battle with angioimmunoblastic T-Cell lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings. We, his family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.
