Yesterday was indeed a sad and terrible day for people of Agbor and people of Akungba. Yesterday has been officially crowned as “Black Saturday.” Over 11 people died in a gas plant explosion in Agbor, Benin-Asaba-Delta State. (Read More Here).
In the evening yesterday, it was reported that over 45 people had died in a road accident caused by a Dangote truck and a Toyota Hilux, which collided into each other. Three of the victims who were involved in the road accident have/had something to do with Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), Akungba, Akoko, Ondo State, have been identified.
Picture of late Pope Kelvin and his wife.
One of the victims, Oluwaseun Ojinni/Ogini, popularly known as, Topmost, was a final year student of AAUA. She just went for her photoshoot as she celebrated her birthday yesterday but ended in a terrible way. Narrating the story, an eyewitness, Adesola wrote:
“She had just gone to have a photoshoot thereafter went to make copies of materials at her siblings’ photocopy Centre for exams. The Akungba accident claimed her life. Today is the only day I didn’t or read from mt friend, Seun Ogini Topmost before she left. I’m broken.”
Topmost was the course rep of her department and the first female President of her department: NABAMS (National Association of Business Administration And Management Students).
Omoo Benayo (real name: Ayokunle Ben Makanjuola) and his brother/cousin, Pope Kelvin were also victims of the road accident. They died instantly alongside their sister.
According to an eyewitness, Benayo graduated from AAUA in 2019, where he studied Geology. His brother Pope Kelvin just got married 6 months ago and usually helped students with their registrations and other things.
Nigerians (their friends and fellow students) have taken to their various Twitter pages to write condolences to them. They wrote:
