A 14-year-old goalkeeper trainee died at the Perak National Sports Council (MSN) hostel this morning.
Bill Wolfson Anak Lianie, who had complained of discomfort, suddenly collapsed in his room at about 7am, according to MSN.
An ambulance was called and CPR was performed on the teenager before he was taken to hospital.
“After several attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead. Until now, the cause of death cannot be ascertained,” MSN says.
Bill was one of the goalkeepers under the National Hockey Development Programme district training centre at SMK Penrissen, Kuching.
MSN says he was selected to attend the Goalkeeper Skills Workshop at Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy in Ipoh from yesterday until today.
The teenager arrived in Ipoh last Thursday in conjunction with the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
MSN adds that Bill’s family has been informed and arrangements are being made for his body to be flown to Kuching.
